Back with another track in my somewhat sporadic Track of the Month selection (I should probably change the name of the project at this point). This track is a meditation on migrating birds.

Track #70 of the ongoing improvisation project is an experiment with lots of overdubs to create a more symphonic sound. With the muggy warm days, it feels appropriate for our monsoon summer.

I have been inspired by my friend Marc’s new blog to post more work lately. His aim for his new blog, Dust Breeding, is to produce a work of art a day for a year. Marc is insanely talented in many spheres of art and it’s been great to see all the small pieces he’s been working on. I may not post something every day, but I thought it would be interesting to post audio more often.

We (Marc and Matt of unrecognizable now and Brian of Gasp and myself) got together this Sunday for an impromptu jam. Marc posted one of the resulting pieces up on his blog and I thought I’d post it up here as well:

Astoria, Oregon is often a place I enjoy jaunting off to for a quick vacation. There’s something about the wide expanse of sky where the river meets the ocean that encourages quiet introspection. This time around, I was overwhelmed by the greyness of everything…

Here’s an audio postcard from my last trip. It consists of layered field recordings from the docks outside my hotel room, triggering ghostly harmonics and a wee lil’ bit of clavinet to add a little melodic interest.

A buddy of mine (adcBicycle) asked me to do a remix for him a while ago. Basically, he’d finished an album and didn’t like the results, so he asked several of his friends to remix his work.

Now he’s put all the remixes back together as a compilation album and it’s great! Includes remixes from He can jog, Autistici, mapmap, umami, allthatfall, and me (I’m at the end ).

In celebration of the stress fest that is known as the winter holiday, I’ve decided to post a holiday drone. If you’re having a stressful holiday season, listen to my nondenominational drone and relax for a second. Aaaaahh, isn’t that better?

Track details: This was recorded as a single pass with cello, looper, and pitchshifter, with some time stretching.

I hope to release a free track a month. Sorry about the silence posting as of late – I have been having a crazy past few months, with work, biochem class, and all other sorts of distractions conspiring to keep me away from music.
